GATES is the gifted program for Vicksburg Warren School District. This program services 2nd through 6th grade intellectually gifted students. The program is a pull-out program, which means students are pulled from the regular class for a minimum of five hours a week. Our mission is to provide unique and individual opportunities that will meet the needs of our intellectually gifted students, and help them become more productive and well-rounded citizens in an ever-changing society. Our goals are to provide educational experiences that will be qualitatively different from the regular classroom; encourage creativity and exploration; help students develop higher level thinking skills, self-directed learning skills, creative thinking skills, problem solving skills, and research skills; help students become more proficient with group dynamics; expose students to various careers and the arts; stress the importance of personal integrity, ethics, and social responsibility; and make learning a joyful and successful experience.
